We are very sorry to tell you that The Space Above is closing, because its parent charity, The Market Place, is having to close due to lack of funding.

This is awful news for everyone connected with The Market Place that has served and supported young people in Leeds for 36 years.

The Market Place suffered a devastating 80% reduction in funding at the end of June 2024 when its long-standing NHS and Council contract ended. This was an overwhelming blow to the charity and the work that it does to support young people in Leeds.

The work the charity does costs considerably more than the income we have been able to raise from charitable grants, donations and The Space Above in response to our funding crisis.

We no longer have enough reserves to keep the charity open while trying to secure new income and we are having to wind the charity down. This sadly means that The Space Above is closing too and are not taking on any new clients.
